The City of Sonoma is preparing early for this winter. Its October 16, 2026 update says the city is reviewing storm procedures and opening its seasonal sandbag station early because of the El Niño outlook (City of Sonoma).
City resources
- Free sand for city residents at the self-serve station at Depot Park, 270 First St. W, from October 20, 2026. Bring a shovel.
- Free empty sandbags at City Hall during business hours, limit 10 per resident, while supplies last.
- The city asks residents to keep leaves out of storm drains and gutters.
The city especially encourages residents whose properties have flooded before to prepare sandbags early.
